10 trivia questions about Star Wars

It's hard to pin down exactly why the Star Wars franchise has become one of the most popular media entities ever created. And with an estimated $47 billion generated since its inception in 1977, we can safely say it has indeed been a solid success.

There's the vast galaxy full of interesting creatures and societies and backstories, sure, but honestly, I think it was mostly the feathered hair. That and the laser swords.

With a media franchise so ripe for entertainment, there's plenty of trivia to mine, and frankly, we've barely touched the surface with these questions. We'll keep adding to the vault, but for now, go ahead and test your Star Wars memory with these trivia questions.

Guess the Star Wars movie line

You quote Star Wars to your friend and on Twitter ad nauseam, so this should be easy for you.

You can go on and on about how much you hate the Special Editions, but we all know if you were in a room with George Lucas there isn’t a single damn thing you wouldn’t do if he asked you.

But in the annals of Star Wars history, there are a few souls who dared to do the impossible. And believe it or not, someone even once turned down the role of Yoda.

It’s amazing to think just how close some of the most classic movies were to being completely different, and in this case Yoda’s iconic way of speaking could have never existed.

Who was that courageous warrior that turned George down and altered the course of Star Wars history?

In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, what is Qui-Gon Jinn's communicator prop made out of?

In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, what is Qui-Gon Jinn's communicator prop made out of?

It may sound like something out of The Simpsons, but after my friend waited all night to secure tickets to The Phantom Menace, I had the death of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn spoiled for me by the dude in the comic book store.

Still, my excitement for the first new Star Wars movie that I was actually reasonably conscious for could not be tamed. I don't care what people say now, everyone was excited as hell. It was a huge moment in movie history. Hell, I think I saw it at least six times in the theater.

With all those viewings, you'd think I would have picked up on this interesting detail. For all the CGI and high-budget sets built for the movie, which had a budget of $115 million, there was one prop that was built from an otherwise mundane item.

For the eagle-eyed, you might have noticed that the communicator Qui-Gon uses is built on... what?

How many forms of communication is C-3PO fluent in?

How many forms of communication is C-3PO fluent in?

It's really incredible the amount of galactic history that C-3PO has been a part of.

Besides being built by THE chosen one, Anakin Skywalker, he has also been present at every single important battle or event that's taken place since Ani powered him up.

Not bad for a protocol droid who's just there to help with etiquette and translation. Also, why did a kid want to build a droid like that? Like, why not give it cool lasers or something?

One thing Threepio is definitely not shy about is telling you just how many forms of communication he, as a protocol droid, is fluent in. Do you remember just how many?

What does AT-AT stand for?

What does AT-AT stand for?
Moviestillsdb.com

There are two kinds of people — Star Wars fans who bicker over how to pronounce vehicle names and those who bicker with those fans about bickering too often over Star Wars.

If that sentence actually made sense to you, this question should be a breeze.

AT-ATs quickly earned a place in our hearts when they debuted in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back. They look, really, really cool — and they seem like they could do some damage... as long as they don't have to go up against a lone Jedi or a tow cable.

What do the letters in this Imperial acronym stand for?

How many Oscars did the original Star Wars win?

In a galaxy far, far away—aka Hollywood—movies of the science fiction genre rarely get their due recognition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Sure, they’ll get a token “best sound and visual editing that’s mixed and then re-edited” type of technical award, sometimes a few, but rarely do they see nominations in the “big” categories—stuff like Best Picture, Best Actor, etc., always seems to go to some “serious” movie where the characters don’t travel through hyperspace even ONCE.

But when Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope came out in 1977 (then simply known as Star Wars) it was too big to ignore.

So, let’s see if you can guess how many Oscars the original Star Wars won.

What kind of Star Wars fan are you?

You might be the type that swears you can feel the force and can't get enough lore. Or maybe you become obsessed with the details, learning every class and rank of the Imperial military. Perhaps, you just really enjoy learning more about the bureaucracy and politics of various incarnations of the Galactic Republic (lol, jk).

If nothing else, we all have that friend who knows every model of blaster, every character name, and so on. Think back to when that friend (or you) was rambling on about every detail regarding the Millennium Falcon. What type of ship is it, exactly?

What was one of Yoda’s original names in the first draft of The Empire Strikes Back?

What was one of Yoda’s original names in the first draft of The Empire Strikes Back?

One of the reasons the Star Wars universe is so rich is thanks to the cool-sounding (or weird, funny, etc.) names. And Yoda is easily one of the most memorable names in movie history.

But in an early draft of the Star Wars sequel, a name for Luke's Jedi master had yet to be decided upon. A lot of them were passed around, and frankly some of them could have killed the entire franchise.

What name did Yoda almost go by?

Which is NOT a name for a Jedi?

Whether you're talking some Obi-Wan, some Qui-Gon, or even good ol' Yoda, you have to admit that Jedi get to have all the cool names. Thanks for nothing mom and dad!

In fact, Jedi names are so interesting you can kind of just mumble some random sounds and end up naming an actual Star Wars character.

With that in mind, see if you can guess which one of these was NOT trained in the ways of the Force.
