Go ahead, do that extremely-90s voice in your head from the commercials shouting "SEGA."

It's really pretty incredible that SEGA was able to make its way to America and put even a tiny dent in Nintendo's video-game dominance — by 1992 owning 65% of the 16-bit market over the Super Nintendo.

If you're like me, you've never really stopped to think what "SEGA" actually means. Surely they didn't just come up with it because it sounds funny with an obnoxious sound clip. Any guesses as to the origins of this iconic brand name?
