Did you know that "Super Bowl" is two words? Based on the social media posts and texts I get around that time, I'm guessing most people don't.

It's hard to imagine a time when the world didn't stop completely just to see what Doritos will do for their next commercial, but there is indeed a threshold in time before which the Super Bowl was not played. Back then, people didn't even reference the game's viewership — in fact, it took some time before the Super Bowl started to do better than regular TV shows.
